I am delighted to announce the creation of the Asia-Pacific Learning Cities Alliance (APLC) in co-operation with the Korea Association of Lifelong Learning Cities to revitalize lifelong learning in cities in Asia. The Alliance will hold its inaugural meeting on September 30, 2021, both online and offline.

Many learning cities in Korea are joining as member cities, and they hope that more cities in Asia Pacific countries will join as members. The Alliance is very pleased to be able to confirm that the PASCAL Observatory will cooperate as one of the its partners for the activation of the APLC, and that PASCAL encourages its own Learning Cities in the Asia-Pacific to join the APLC. Likewise PASCAL encourages APLC cities to join PASCAL’s Learning City Network.

Cities joining the inaugural general meeting of the APLC will also be invited to attend the 5^th UNESCO Global Conference on Learning Cities scheduled to be held in Yeonsu-gu, Republic of Korea from October 27 to 30 this year.
