Ranking CYD 2016 - The ranking of Spanish tailored to the user universities

The CYD Foundation began in 2011 to develop a ranking of universities, a project that culminated in 2014 with the presentation of the first edition of the Ranking CYD , the ranking of Spanish universities to suit the user.

Ranking CYD it is developed in parallel with U-Multirank , the international ranking of universities promoted by the European Commission and in which the CYD Foundation collaborates vehiculando the participation of Spanish universities.

Ranking CYD allows the user to developing custom rankings, so that each user can select a set of indicators based on their interests and priorities.
Its methodology allows reflect on the one hand, the diversity of higher education institutions and on the other, the variety of dimensions to measure the excellence of universities, so that finally the Ranking CYD allows us to highlight the strengths of each institutions. Ranking CYD is the ranking that offers more possibilities to carry out a benchmarking between each university and universities reference.

Ranking CYD is a powerful tool for the management of universities.
 

Methodology
Ranking CYD offers users the ability to select from a number of indicators covering five dimensions. The institutional ranking allows you to select from among a total of 32 indicators: 5 for the dimension of teaching and learning, 10 for research, 8 for knowledge transfer, 6 for international orientation and 3 for dimension contribution to regional development. Meanwhile, the ranking by area has a total of 34 indicators: 10 for the dimension of teaching and learning, 8 for the research, 4 for the transfer of knowledge, 10 for international orientation and 2 for the dimension contribution to development regional.

Considering the number of indicators analyzed at the institutional level (32) and areas of knowledge (34), the Ranking CYD is the ranking of Spanish universities with the largest number of indicators used.
 
Based on the selection by the user of the indicators in these dimensions a personalized ranking is obtained, showing the results well for the institutions as a whole - which is called institutional ranking , a measure of the overall efficiency of the university - or well for specific fields of knowledge - ranking by area -. Specifically, this third edition of the Ranking CYD offers the ability to select from 13 areas of expertise: business, physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science , medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, biology, sociology, social work and history. Progressively these areas will be expanded to cover the entire training offered by the Spanish university.


Participation
In the third edition of the Ranking CYD involved a total of 66 Spanish universities. Of these, the University of the Basque Country and the University of Málaga only partially involved in the institutional rankings, which are ultimately involved the 64 completely. In the previous edition - 2015 - 60 universities participated, of which 6 participated only partially. In the first edition - 2014 - they involved a total of 39 universities.
In conclusion, in this third edition directly involved provided information 10 more than in the previous edition universities and covered all the Autonomous Communities.

Ranking CYD is the Spanish ranking with the largest number of participating universities.


New in this edition
The 2016 edition of the Ranking CYD incorporates some new features. In addition to creating a ranking as - institutional or field - allows the user to learn about your college, accessing University data , a table showing the results of 12 core indicators (related to students, graduates, faculty and degrees) ; and Search your university , a complete record of each university with all the informaciónón that the user can specify.

It also allows for the first time, a direct comparison between selected in view of the personalized ranking universities. The comparison allows you to select up to four universities and compare their results for each indicator. In addition, a graphical representaciónón of the relative position of each of the indicators over other universities offers.

We are convinced that the CYD Ranking is an irreplaceable to boost mobility of students and teachers to improve the performance of the universities and in order to boost their contribution to economic and social development objective of our Foundation instrument.
