Re-thinking the tertiary system: The future of learning and work, Monday 21 November, London

The Social Partnerships Network and Action on Access have joined forces to organise a one-day event on the theme of Re-thinking the tertiary system: The future of learning and work.

The event is on Monday 21st November, 9:30-16:30 at the Unison offices in Central London (please click on the following link for the address and map).

There will be keynotes from speakers including Angela Rayner MP(Shadow Secretary of State for Education), David Hughes (Chief Executive, Association of Colleges), Ruth Spellman (Chief Executive, Workers Education Association), Rob Humphreys (Director, The Open University in Wales)and Tony Wilson (Learning and Work Institute).

We will have a panel discussion with employers including The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

We will also be running a range of topical workshops on subjects such as Apprenticeships (David Willet, The Open University); The role of colleges in technical and professional education (Arti Saraswat and Nick Davy, Association of Colleges); and What learners want: Putting learners at the heart of Area Reviews (Natalie Honeybun and Holly Staynor, National Union of Students).

At the event we will be launching the PEARL website and a new suite of six free online courses developed as part of the National Networks for Collaborative Outreach (NNCO) project (presented by Julie Gowen, The Open University and Alex Lewis, HEFCE).

This high profile conference may be of particular interest to senior officers, widening participation practitioners and researchers from across the FE and HE sectors.
