Strengthening community-university research partnerships: Global perspectives – a book launch

In the following video promotion, Professor Budd Hall, Co-Chair of the UNESCO Chair in Community Based Research and Social Responsibility, talks about the book Strengthening community-university research partnerships: Global perspectives:

This research investigates the structures that have been put in place for the facilitation and support of respectful and effective research partnerships between Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).

The book, featuring 25 contributing authors, is rich with documented evidence including twelve country case studies, and an overview of a global survey administered in over fifty countries and four languages. All point to a trend that HEIs, CSOs and policy makers are paying attention to engaged scholarship and the co-creation of knowledge. It is a trend that is growing.

PASCAL International Observatory is honoured to have Professor Budd Hall officially launch this book at the 12th International PASCAL Conference in Catania at 19:30 on Thursday 8th October.

A complimentary User's Manual is also available and is featured below. This manual on Institutionalizing Community University Research Partnerships is both a handy reference and a ready tool-kit for university and college administrators interested in establishing and improving Community University Research Partnership initiatives in their institutions. It provides practical guidelines and steps that will help deliver on policy commitments made to promote Community University Engagement/Community University Research Partnerships in higher educational institutions. These guidelines, supplemented with best practices (in boxes) from around the world, are intended to show a way forward, and are not necessarily prescriptive; they offer insights into how institutions can build and sustain Community University Research Partnership practices and structures.
