We are pleased to announce that the 2014 Talloires Network Leaders Conference will take place from December 2 through December 4, 2014 in Cape Town, South Africa. In addition, we are delighted that the conference will be co-sponsored by the South African Higher Education Community Engagement Forum (SAHECEF) and will by hosted in partnership with the Cape Higher Education Consortium (CHEC). 
In November 2013, the Talloires Network Secretariat convened an opening workshop for the eight universities participating in the Youth Economic Participation Initiative. This initiative, launched in 2012 with support from The MasterCard Foundation, supports the work of eight Talloires Network institutions that are implementing innovative strategies to facilitate their students’ transition from university to employment and entrepreneurship.
On Wednesday, November 19, in advance of the 5th International Symposium on Service-Learning held at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, the Talloires Network and Innovations in Civic Participation (ICP) hosted the first workshop as a part of the Faculty and Staff Professional Development Program. This workshop, organized in collaboration with Stellenbosch University, focused on Leadership, Planning and Change Management for Community Engagement.

The Community and Civic Engagement Initiative within Auburn University's College of Liberal Arts announces the annual Academy for Civic Professionalism for faculty in the arts and humanities, which will take place May 11 - 14, 2014. The Academy will include a rigorous and invigorating schedule of speakers, workshops, working sessions led by Engaged Scholars from Auburn University, and CCE project site visits. 
The Organising Committee of the Engagement Australia National Conference, to be held at Wagga Wagga between 21st – 23rd July, 2014, are calling on interested researchers, academics, practitioners and industry partners to submit papers for inclusion in the conference proceedings. The Committee invites submissions across four categories relating to the conference theme “Engage and Innovate for Sustainability." Proposals are due February 28, 2014. 
Submissions are now being accepted for workshops, teaching circles and poster presentations for the Community University Victoria (CUVIC) Conference 2014 to be held May 20 - 22, 2014 in Victoria, BC, Canada. The conference theme is Beyond Engagement: Creating Integration, Innovation and Impact. Submissions will be accepted through January 31, 2014. 
E’World International Conference “Entrepreneurship and Business Education in Emerging World” was successfully held on October 31 – November 1, 2013 in Almaty, Kazakhstan by the International Academy of Business. The Conference was attended by 266 people from 21 countries, prominent foreign speakers, and representatives from local and foreign businesses, government, leading scientists and experts from various fields of entrepreneurship, economics and business education. 105 presentations and speeches were made during conference, including video greetings from international partners from USA, Canada, France and Bangladesh. 
The call for entrepreneurial leadership in education has never been stronger, but there is little descriptive information about this kind of leadership and even less advice on how a leader might grow in this dimension. Beginning with the constant need for innovation in every learning organization, the author makes a case for an entrepreneurial style of leadership in education. The author paints a multi-faceted picture of entrepreneurial leadership using stories of real leaders in combination with writings from the social sciences, education, natural sciences, business and the arts.
The development of community skills starts with an understanding that communities and schools interlink. That is, learners who go to school expect to use the knowledge they gain to serve their communities. This calls for a broader vision of learning that goes beyond the four walls of classrooms. 
Lifelong learning, the arts, and community cultural engagement in the contemporary university maps the work of adult educators, teachers, researchers and graduate students from North America, Europe and Africa who use the arts in their university classroom teaching, their research and in service. It is written specifically for graduate students, and educators working in higher education, communities, schools, and practitioners who want to learn how to better integrate the arts in their practice to critically and creativity communicate, teach, make meaning, uncover, and involve.
In this book, Holden Thorp and Buck Goldstein make the case for the pivotal role of research universities as agents of societal change. They argue that universities must use their vast intellectual and financial resources to confront global challenges such as climate change, extreme poverty, childhood diseases, and an impending worldwide shortage of clean water.
