University of Taipei and Datong Community College jointly host the 2019 PASCAL Learning City International Expert Forum
On March 15th, 2019, the University of Taipei, Education Administration and Evaluation Faculty, and Datong Community College, Taipei City jointly hosted the 2019 PASCAL Learning City International Expert Forum.
The attendees of this forum were educationalists and top government officials, including the former Minister of Education of Taiwan, Professor Ching-Ji Wu (Chancellor, Taiwan University of Education), the former Director General, Department of National and K12 Education Administration, Ministry of Education, Professor Ching-shan Wu, and Professor Yu-Huei Yang, the current Director General, Department of Technological and Vocational Education, Ministry of Education of Taiwan. Professor Mike Osborne and Professor Roberta Piazza from PASCAL presented the latest findings from the study of the contribution of TVET (Technical and Vocational Education) to development of the learning cities in Taiwan.
Participants found the presentations and exchange of information very useful and relevant for Taiwan, especially Taipei City. Taipei City has participated in PASCAL Learning City initiatives since 2010, being an original member of the PASCAL International Exchanges led by Peter Kearns. The main theme of this forum, the development of lifelong learning in the city is one of the main objectives of PASCAL. For more detailed information of the forum, please see attachments.
Professor Piazza commented that:
The city of Taipei in its work in the development of learning cities has been an inspiration for PASCAL, especially for the EcCoWell model that it created and which has now been adopted by other cities, including notably in Cork, the site of the next PASCAL conference.
