PASCAL effective Interventions in Youth Unemployment (PIYU)

The PASCAL programme on effective interventions in youth unemployment is a developing programme offered to members of PASCAL International Observatory.

Unemployment, especially youth unemployment, is a major concern in many regions.  Youth unemployment is always 2-3 times higher than adult unemployment and tends to continue to rise for a while following the end of a recession.

Universities and regions: engagement for regional development

Issues of policy and practice arising from the PASCAL PURE programme.

This paper highlights issues of policy and practice for securing effective engagement between regional authorities and universities to enhance regional development.  It draws particularly on experience reported in the 17 regions in different parts of the world taking part in the Pascal PURE programme to offer practical suggestions for regions and universities to apply within the particular contexts in which they find themselves.

Journal of Adult and Continuing Education: ‘Lifelong Learning, Culture and Creativity’

Darlene Clover from the University of Victoria, Canada is the guest editor of a special edition of the Journal of Adult and Continuing Education to be published in Autumn 2010 by the new publishers of JACE, Manchester University Press.

The broad theme of this special issue is  ‘lifelong learning, culture and creativity’. Papers will focus on (but are not limited to) the following areas:
