PASCAL Center for Latin America and the Caribbean - Summer Highlights, September: 2016

Tecnológico de Monterrey (Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Wikipedia) is the latest PASCAL Centre, and the first  Spanish-speaking country to join. Tecnológico de Monterrey was founded over 70 years ago and now has two dozen campuses in Mexico. This Update describes its dynamic programme of entrepreneurship, including social entrepreneurship, outreach and sharing of knowledge both within the country and internationally.

PASCAL SIG - Public Sector Interface: Competitiveness and the Economy, Issue One: March 2016

The purpose of this PASCAL Special Interest Group (SIG) is to examine the interface between PASCAL and the public policy sectors. While this topic is a very broad it cuts across sectors and issues, including innovative resource sharing and the role of institutions of higher education, and those organizations that develop policy. It includes the development of intercultural activity.

PASCAL Special Interest Groups

PASCAL is establishing a series of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to give focus to the advice required by the Board in particular areas.

The Groups will consist of 6 to 8 people, made up of academics and  practitioners in the public, private and NGO sectors and will have a wide geographical spread and gender balance so far as possible. The members of the Groups will serve for up to 3 years with the possibility of renewal and the Groups will report to the Board at least annually with the invitation to report more frequently when needed.

New UALL Community Research and Engagement Network

We are pleased to send you advance notice for the establishment of a new Network.  The main aims of the Community Research and Engagement Network are to:

  • Deliver a network which gives focus on community, participant based research
  • Develop a repository which captures and holds the breadth of such work
  • Acknowledge the innovative models of engagement which start with the diverse needs of participants – not educational providers or funders.

UNESCO Chair Resources: Video guide/bibliography for training in community-based research (CBR)

The UNESCO Chair in community-based research (CBR), in partnership with the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES) at the University of British Columbia are pleased to share new resources on training in CBR. These products are some of the outcomes of the SSHRC funded 'Building the Next Generation of Community-based Researchers (“The NextGen project”) between 2014-2016.
