PURE revisited: Recent research reports for Essex

One of PASCAL's major pieces of work has been the international study of universities' regional engagement PURE. The study examined policies and practice in 17 cities and regions around the world, with a view to reporting both to universities and regional stakeholders to help foster collaboration and economic and social development. The study was largely complete by 2011.

PASCAL - Twitter thought leader for the global placemaking movement

PASCAL's social media profile continues to rise! It was particularly pleasing to have been added to the list maintained by the high-profile New York based Project for Public Places of over 100 people and organisations who they regard as being leaders in the placemaking movement.  PASCAL has now been 'listed'  over 180 times by organisations and individuals on Twitter as an organisation whose tweets on topics of interest they wish to follow.

#learningcities weekly and other PASCAL social media updates

A new weekly curated newspaper #learningcities weekly was launched this week.  A trial edition came out yesterday (Wednesday) and the full editions will appear every week from now on.  The idea of #learningcities weekly is to bring together in one place all references to #learningcities on Twitter in the previous week and provide easy access to a range of material on one of PASCAL's main themes.

PASCAL, social media, and making more sense of what is out there

PASCAL's reach in social media continues to grow.  On Twitter (@obspascal) we are now well passed the 8000 posts, and we have over 1800 followers, a number that continues to grow steadily.  PASCAL has been listed 128 times at the time of writing. Our tweets feed through to the PASCAL Facebook page where we are also attracting an increasing number of fans.

Speaking in Glasgow recently, Judith Rodin, President of the Rockefeller Foundation, drew attention to Glasgow's role as one of the first cities selected to be part of the 100 Resilient Cities programme, pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation.

Atlantic Creative Cities to gather in Plymouth

Working in the Middle - Knowledge Mobilisation UK Forum 2014

The ever pressing impact agenda in higher education is encouraging more attention to be paid to the ideas and processes of knowledge mobilisation.  Well established particularly in Canada, the first UK Forum on KMb is taking place in London on 3-4th February 2014.

PASCAL's Growing International Reach

PASCAL continues to extend its global reach through its mainstream activities and social media.

Our successful 11th International conference has recently concluded in Hong Kong, PASCAL's first major event in that region, and this website carries information and reflections on the event.

We have also now passed 1000 twitter followers, spread around the world in 43 countries. . Our Facebook page has attracted almost 200 'likes', spread over an amazing 45 countries, and the daily paper 'Observations' has been shared over 4300 times.

Responding to PIAAC: PASCAL proposes regional analysis

To considerable media interest, the OECD published the early findings from the PIAAC survey of adult competences yesterday 8th October.  The report Skilled for Life? Key findings from the Survey of Adult Skills is featured below and there is also a SlideShare presentation from the launch by Andreas Schleicher.
