This workshop – which is being conducted by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) and the Association of American Universities (AAU) -- will be of interest to university personnel involved in preparing or communicating to the public about economic impact studies, or more broadly about the economic contributions their university makes. The session descriptions in the agenda will help you identify the right person or persons on your campus, and the organizers would be grateful if you would let them know about this.  The cost is $75 US.

Last Call for Student Videos - 'The World We Imagine'

This is a very exciting opportunity for higher education students around the world to voice their visions on transformative knowledge in higher education.  The videos will be presented at the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNi)  6th International Barcelona Conference on Higher Education, which will take place in 13-15 May 2013,  and will be featured on our Website (www.guninetwork.org). Furthermore, a synthesis of all contributions will be published in our upcoming report “Higher Education in the World 5”.

Glasgow Wins the Smart City Status

Dear Colleagues

It has been announced today that the City of Glasgow has won the Future Demonstrator City Award from the UK Government.  This is a highly prestigious and competitive prize awarded to a city then expected to provide blueprints for the future integration of leading edge technologies, integrated planning and urban development.  It is worth some £24 million.

Harvard Scholar Launches Knowledge Curation Platform - Academic Room

Academic Room is the first multidisciplinary knowledge platform where you can build open communities to curate academic content within well-defined areas—ranging from philosophy, history and economics to engineering, architecture and medicine.  The platform also dramatically reduces time to locate both credible scholarship and experts within a field of research.  Academic Room is an independent initiative that is headquartered in the Harvard Innovation Lab.

Carnegie Invites Institutions to Apply for 2015 Community Engagement Classification or Re-Classification - Applications Due Apr 15, 2014

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching invites  colleges and universities with an institutional focus on community  engagement to apply for the elective classification, first developed  and offered in 2006 as part of an extensive restructuring of the  Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
