U21 - Research Universities and Regional Engagement

The report on the inaugural meeting of the U21 group concerned with Research Universities and Regional Engagement, held at the University of Melbourne in February 2010 has been warmly received by U21, and the initiatives outlined therein are being encouraged.  A lot of support was expressed for the work colleagues have proposed,  and U21 is happy that this should now be a Collaborative Group of the organisation. The group is led by the University of Auckland, the University of Glasgow and the University of Melbourne, with the support of the University of British Columbia and Lund University, and co-ordinated by PASCAL from Glasgow.

A summary of the report can be found in the July newsletter of U21.

The next meeting of the group will be on 6/7 October 2010 during the 7th International Workshop on Higher Education Reform organized by PASCAL Board member, Hans Schuetze and PASCAL Associate, Garnet Grosjean at  the Centre for Policy Studies in Higher Education and Training at St. John’s College, the University of British Columbia, entitled Reform of University Governance - Trends, Policies, Fads, and Experience in Comparative Perspective.
