HIV, Human Rights and Development Network Inaugural Seminar

Please find featured below and attached details of the Inaugural Seminar of the HIV, Human Rights and Development Network; this was set up following research with HIV positive asylum seekers last year. The Inaugural Seminar of the Network is on 9 May 2013 at the Scottish Parliament from 5.30 - 8.00pm.

Competences for Grundtvig course organisers

GINCO Tools & Training has launched a survey amongst Grundtvig in-service training course organisers as to define and prioritise the competences needed to organise a quality Grundtvig IST course. They were also asked to define their training needs. Based on the results of this survey, the priorities set by the Lifelong Learning Programme and based on the principles of the EU Commission study on ‘Key Competences for Adult Learning Professionals’ the GINCO T&T team has come up with 41 competences spread over 8 competence areas.

Small Towns Reports - the role of City Regions in the economic development of the south of Scotland

With the emergence in the 1990’s of the City Regions concept in the Scottish/UK public policy arena, those involved in economic development in the south of Scotland (the South of Scotland Alliance), began to consider the implications of the roll-out of this policy for rural areas. The emergent view was that while the City Regions dynamic was understood and relevant, the suggested  primacy in public policy terms, somewhat undermined the significance of the town and its position and influence in rural and peri-rural economies.
