The latest issue of the Journal of Adult and Continuing Education (JACE 17.1) has just been published, and includes articles by PASCAL board members and associates.

Attached is the final programme for the Conference. This is provided for advance information as a paper copy will be inserted in each delegate pack.

Also attached are a  map of central Glasgow - showing the Conference venue marked on the corner of Gibson St and Kelvin Way - and the detailed map (already distributed) of the venue street itself. Again, these will be provided in the Conference pack  but those registering recently may find them useful in arriving on Wednesday.

I have received the attached materials from Tony Ryan, one of the most ardent toilers in the adult education field, who conducted Learning Works as a radio program out of Adelaide over 6 years, and who now advises the end of the program.

His Learning Works Reflection note is worth reading to see how he used radio to advance the cause of adult learning.

Human Development and the Transformation of the Academy (below) is a piece published in the current issue of Journal of Developing Societies.  It was originally a keynote speech at the November 2010 retreat of the Development Education chair at the University of South Africa, following which the link between PASCAL and UNISA was formalized.   It calls for transforming university curricula by incorporating indigenous knowledge systems (IKS).   Perhaps its most controversial thesis posed for discussion is that within the dominant paradigm there are no solutions to hum
