Innovative Business Transitions - call for book chapters

Aging populations, especially in rural areas, are threatening many long-term business establishments that are essential to quality of life in the community.  Business owners reach retirement age with no heirs willing to take over the business. This means that essential businesses and gathering places such as grocery stores, restaurants, etc. may close unless innovative approaches are implemented. Local governments have been resourceful in addressing these challenges. Community Owned Businesses have been used in many instances. Employee-owned businesses, cooperatives, or Employee Stock Ownership Programs worked in other areas.

Glasgow Learning City Working Group

In building the Learning City in Glasgow, the city has established a Working Group, including representatives from Glasgow City Council, Higher and Further Education Institutions and the Third Sector. This ensures that all learning city stakeholders take a coordinated approach to promoting the learning city concept. Furthermore, the group coordinates the strategic process and policy dialogues toward an innovative and inclusive Learning City that supports lifelong learning opportunities for all the citizens of Glasgow. 

Up to Four Lectureships in Education with added Research hours

Some important resources on Ageing

The International Longevity Centre in London holds an annual conference on The Future of Ageing. The 2021 conference will be held on 3 December. The UK Minister for Care and Mental Health, Gillian Keegan, will give the keynote address. These annual Future of Ageing conferences are very useful in updating developments in the transition towards a longevity society.

Celebrating Work-life (in)balances in COVID Zoom time

During our latest Centre for Sustainable Healthy Learning Cities and Neighbourhoods (SHLC) ‘comms’ club meeting, two female colleagues attended the meeting with their young babies bouncing on their laps. This has gotten me so inspired by the naturalness of life, and that the intuitively amazing work-life balance that the two women portrayed boldly and happily should not be let to pass.
