12th PASCAL International Observatory Conference - Catania - 7-9 October 2015 - Symposia

Several conference attendees have requested symposium sessions in which special interest groups can present their work. If groups are interested in such a session please note this intent when submitting your abstract. It will be possible for you to propose between 3 and 5 separate papers during a period of 1.5 hours in parallel session. This provides an opportunity to showcase the work of your organization as well as organize future work with potential members.

CAUSE Summit-Collegiate Association of Unreasonable Social Entrepreneurs

The Center for Governmental Studies at Northern Illinois University recently served as one of the sponsors for the CAUSE Summit.  CAUSE developed the Social Impact Summit with the goals to educate students and social practitioners about social entrepreneurship, inspire all to find ways to enlarge their social and environmental impacts and provide networking opportunities for those passionate about making a difference and changing the world.

Co-producing an RPL Toolkit

Please find attached an account of the co-production of a Recognition of Prior Learning Toolkit for Adult Educators that can be modified and adapted for use in different contexts for a variety of purposes, but that matches claims for credit against the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). This work was carried out with the support of the European Commission and involved partners in Scotland, Estonia, Ireland and Romania.

Taipei Learning Neighbourhood pilots

Last Friday I reported an initiative by Cork to conduct two Learning Neighbourhood pilot projects in neighbourhoods with considerable disadvantage. Cork has now been joined by the Taipei Learning City which will also conduct two Learning Neighbourhood pilot projects over the coming year.
