The 13th PASCAL International Conference will be held at the University of Glasgow on 3-5 June, 2016. The conference will focus on future directions for Learning Cities at a time of significant challenge and opportunity for enterprising Learning Cities.

I am very pleased to attach for subscribers of PASCAL, a copy of my inaugural address as Professor in Lifelong Learning and Social Intervention within Globalisation Studies Groningen (GSG), Faculty of Arts, University of Groningen. I welcome your comments. The title of my address was Bowling Together - Lifelong Learning as a Collective Challenge in the North and the South.

I invite you to contribute papers for this strand which will illustrate, explore and debate contemporary education and learning interventions and positions in museums, art galleries and libraries and the roles they play (or can or should play) as critical catalysts for sustainably and change.

The Rolling Workshop approach which has been successfully applied by the Harnessing Cultural Policy Network will now be applied by the LCN's Inclusion Network with an Inclusion Rolling Workshop which commenced in Townsville on 4 May. The Townsville Workshop will be followed by workshops in Glasgow (early July), Bristol (15 October), and Melbourne (2 December).

PASCAL has worked closely in recent years with a number of organisations concerned with community engaged research, namely research with communities rather than on communities. This strand of the conference will involve a co­operation with the UNESCO Chair for Community­-engaged Research and Social Responsibility based in Victoria (Canada) and New Delhi.
