The Italian Learning Cities Network has signed a protocol of common interest with the Association of Local Democracy Agencies.  ALDA was established in 1999 as an initiative of the Council of Europe's Congress of Local and Regional Authorities to coordinate and support a network of Local Democracy Agencies which was established in the early 1990s.

What on earth is education for? An exercise on values for a healthier planet

While PASCAL's interest and influence extends to all the stakeholders in a community or a city, and its themes cover a wide range of contemporary issues, schools and the health of the planet are relatively sparsely covered. This blog addresses the issue of the knowledge and values that our children and grandchildren will need in order to repair the harm that that our greedy and self-indulgent generation has visited upon our only planetary habitat. But schools are only a part of the story.

As the site says, this year the report covers 26 cities and presents in-depth results covering all 10 indicators and 66 variables, examines issues and adds insight from urban thinkers and influencers.

Engaging Your University in Regional Economic Development

Virginia Tech and TRE Networks preseng an executive leadership program for individuals, or teams of university and community leaders, responsible for regional economic development.  This program is scheduled for May 21-23, 2012 in Roanoke, Virginia (USA).  The curriculum will foster competency in leading regional transformation -- to achieve  long-term impacts targeted at the needs of both institutions and regions.
