Faith / Spirituality-based Learning Cities Development Network Highlights for 2016 - 2018

The Faith / Spirituality-based Learning City Development Network has been growing since our beginnings in 2016. After the PASCAL International Observatory Conference in Glasgow, Scotland, Dr. Rob Mark (PASCAL LCN Director), Dr. Connie Watson (LearnLong Institute of Education and Learning Research), and Dr. Maria Liu Wong (LearnLong / City Seminary of New York) convened the first meeting for interested parties in July 2016 at City Seminary of New York (New York City).

An update on the Knowledge for Change Consortium training

As many colleagues will know, we launched the first cohort in the Mentor Training Programme for our Knowledge for Change Consortium (K4C) consortium in January with the on-line component.  I am just back from India where we held the first f2f residency with 19 mentors from seven countries. 

Seminars at Shanghai Municipal Institute for Lifelong Learning - 17 March 2018

PASCAL Director for Europe, Mike Osborne, and PASCAL Associate Director for Europe, Roberta Piazza, were delighted to be hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Institute for Lifelong Learning (SMILE) and its director Professor Jian Huang from 15-18 March 2018. During that time, they discussed a number of areas of potential collaboration including assessment of the regional engagement role of Technical and Vocational Education Colleges in Shanghai.

Promoting Community Engagement for Vocational and Professional Education and Training - Hong Kong, 15 March 2018

This symposium on 15 March 2018 at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) discussed findings of two research studies. One was benchmarking research conducted in Hong Kong and European cities and the second, a General Research Fund (GRF) study[1] concerned the importance of partnerships and community engagement for Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET).

Workshop for VTC staff members on Promoting Community Engagement for VPET

We were very pleased to be able to offer a PASCAL Workshop at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Chai Wan) (a member of Vocational Training Council (VTC)) to some 40 staff members on Promoting Community Engagement for Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) on 13 March 2018.

Al Wakra Municipality – Local Action on the UN Sustainability Goals

A series of activities and speeches were held at three secondary schools in Al Wakra on 13 March 2018 to inform students about the UN Sustainability Goals, especially Sustainability Goal 4.

Widening Regional Engagement of HE and TVET in Hong Kong

A PASCAL team consisting of John Tibbitt, Mike Osborne and Roberta Piazza were delighted to be able to visit Hong Kong during the week beginning 12 March 2018 in order to meet those colleges who had piloted the benchmarking tool of the Widening Regional Engagement of HE and TVET project.
