Last Call for Student Videos - 'The World We Imagine'

This is a very exciting opportunity for higher education students around the world to voice their visions on transformative knowledge in higher education.  The videos will be presented at the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNi)  6th International Barcelona Conference on Higher Education, which will take place in 13-15 May 2013,  and will be featured on our Website (www.guninetwork.org). Furthermore, a synthesis of all contributions will be published in our upcoming report “Higher Education in the World 5”.

The Center for Governmental Studies of Northern Illinois University (NIU) has welcomed its resident scholar in a fledgling program that promotes community engagement in sustainable regional development through a cohort of international researchers.  Hugo Gutierrez, serves as head of Social Programs in the Social Development and Citizenship Department at Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico.  He is co-founder of Mexico Rural and Mexico Urbano community outreach programs.

The report “At the Heart of the City: Mayors on the Urban Future” (featured below) encompasses the captivating discussion that occurred during the Mayors Roundtable at the World Urban Forum 6 held in September 2012 in Naples, Italy.

Attended by 400 Mayors and Local Authority Associations, topics such as the financial architecture in countries, job creation strategies, women and youth empowerment and the need for an improved partnership between Ministers and Mayors were passionately debated.
