Nothing About Us Without Us is the title of the feature article on Community Engaged Scholarship in this month’s Canadian Newsletter of the Association of Universities and Colleges in Canada.  The placement of this as the feature article on the subject of community based participatory research/community engaged scholarship is significant and marks a new level of visibility for the community university engaged research movement in Canada.

Cork innovates again

The city of Cork has again shown its capacity for innovation by being the first city in Ireland to establish a Food Policy Council. This initiative is being linked to EcCoWell development in Cork, and will have cross representation between the EcCoWell planning group and the new Food Policy Council.

Adult and Continuing Education in Europe

The attached report written by Paolo Federighi, Professor of Adult Education at the University of Florence (Italy) is based on the review of several EU funded research projects under the 6th and 7th Framework Programmes for Research.

Referring to the work of institutions such as CEDEFOP, Eurofund, Eurostat and OECD related to lifelong leaning, as well as research by academics in the area, it proposes a number of policy and research priorities to support adult and continuing education.

Access Policy of Higher Education - Alliance of Leading Education Institutes conference, Beijing

Subscribers interested in the issue of access to Higher Education, may wish to know that the International Alliance of Leading Education Institutes will be running a conference on the topic of the Access Policy of Higher Education hosted by Beijing Normal University from 30 October to 2 November. Keynote speakers include the Master of Green College, Oxford University, Professor Sir David Watson.
